Oana Uiorean
Author, Journalist
Oana Uiorean (b. 1979) is a Romanian writer and journalist currently residing in Brussels, Belgium. Leaving her native country at the age of 18 in search for things to say, she has previously lived, studied and worked in Bulgaria, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK.
Temporarily lured into living other people's dreams, she initially moved to Brussels to be a lobbyist in one of its many European affairs consultancies. The experience almost killed her. Mind-numbing routine, questionable ethics, and 9 to 5 hours are aspects of it she remembers as particularly excruciating. Drawing the line in the end of 2006, she left the "golden cage" behind and decided to devote herself entirely to her one true calling: the written word.
Oana is currently freelancing as a journalist for a number of Romanian, Belgian, and other European publications, while concentrating on her writing.
In no particular order, she is passionate about improvisation, graffiti, chaos, photography, jazz, and dogs.
An author of short-form fiction, Oana's first novel in English is currently in the works.
