Born in Düsseldorf in April 1979, Jan Bonny has lived and worked in the U.S., the Netherlands and Germany. He has received a degree in media arts at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln and has directed the short film “2nd and A” as well as numerous  commercials. In late 2008 he joined the Binger Filmlab for “A politician’s wife”. “Gegenüber” is his first feature as writer and director. It premiered in 2007 at Cannes Quinzaine des Realisateurs, where it received an honourable mention. It was nominated for the 2007 European Film Awards and for the Deutscher Filmpreis 2008.
