Born in 1980 in Lyon, France, Simon Rouby has first entered the art world 10 years ago as a graffiti artist. From there he accessed other mediums such as painting and sculpture, and first got into the cinematographic language by drawing motion, and creating short animations.
From this background he studied animated film directing, first in Gobelins, Paris then in California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles.
He graduated in 2007 with two shorts, “Blind Spot”, and “Le Présage”. Both of them have been shown in many international festivals including Cannes (Cinéfondation 2008), Clermont Ferrand, San Diego, Bucharest, Ottawa, Taiwan...
Still developing a taste for painting and video installation, his first solo exhibition opened in December 2009 at Cinématheque Française in Paris.
He currently lives and works in Paris, developing a feature film project with co-writer Julien Lilti.
